Bob Marley: One Love Movie Review

by Moya Mzuri

It was wonderful to relive the music of Marley again and to see the beautiful colors and energy of that era. Realizing that Bob's story was limited to his childhood up to the shooting during the political campaigns of 1976, it really allowed the audience to see and experience Bob's introduction into the politics of Jamaica. But he also became part of his destiny, a sort of prophecy that he had to fulfil for his People. The beauty of the film is that it becomes a road map to Bob's eventual journey home, which my book provides. Bob's destiny is written and prophesized in the film. The importance of his voice as the inspirational soundtrack for the African revolution "Survival" provides the opportunity for Bob to fulfill his destiny, the trip to Zimbabwe to perform for their independence celebration. This, for me, is the spiritual and Pan African baptism for Bob, the People of Zimbabwe and all African people connected to the struggle for freedom. And for this connection, I am so grateful to be a part.
